Re: What happens now
I watched the first half and it was slightly better than Brighton. Seeing those cunts score twice meant game over. Then we went out and scored 3 times and won 3-2. Inexplicable really. It's a funny old game innit.

The problem is that Bilic really doesn't know what his best side is so this will have confused him even more.

Ayew, although who could have seen that coming, really was scampering around a lot and scored twice and was MOTM, so I guess he stays in with Carroll. Or Slav could play him as wing back, who knows.

Glad I could help

I have no feelings of sorrow for our fans that cannot fully enjoy this result.

Agree with Davies on this one.

I woke up this morning still laughing about last night. Turned on Talksport and the dull Jock White was asking if the result made any difference to Bilic staying. Turned straight off again.

Give me at least 24 hours to stop chuckling about Spurs fucking it up again before normal service resumes.

Re: What happens now
I feel a bit sorry for people who are so caught up in themselves and their opinions that they cant just enjoy a result like last night.

I think you need to find something else to do with your time.

Re: What happens now
15 minutes of effort doesn't make up for 20 months of diabolical management.

We reached Semi Final of League Cup and Quarters of FA Cup in a season under Avram Grant and as we all know we got relegated that season, neither of those cup runs were worth the feeling as relegation.

I would personally still sack him before the Palace game, beating those muppets who are bottom of the league proves nothing, losing games 3-0 to Brighton and Newcastle tells you a lot more than beating a team who everbody bar 1 team has came away with 3 points and not conceded a single goal.

Re: What happens now
I hope it is a catalyst for better things, having said that we beat Chelsea who went on to become champions in the same competition, albeit at home, we played really well for 90 mins for that one, then we went back to playing crap for the rest of the season.

Pleased for Bilic that his players turned up for once because he seems a decent chap, just far from convinced he can motivate the players consistently.

Depends on who we get in the next round
a home tie against
Bristol City,Bournemouth or Leicester and he'll be safe.
Probably an away tie too
Away to City,Chelsea or Man U bye bye

Re: What happens now
Lose v Palace and he has to go.
What has to happen from now and beyond the next game is similar effort showed in the second half last night and us moving into and staying in the top half.
Last night and the recent ultimatum where we picked up points showed that the players are good enough but only seem bothered when his about to be fired.
Don't want to see them relaxing again when they think they are out of the woods.

Re: What happens now
He gets Saturday.

I still think a bad loss like Brighton and he has to go.

They've only scored twice this season and just lost FOUR ONE to lower league opposition. They also have undoubtedly a worse manager.

In fact even a draw there is a bit embarrassing.

Need to prove last night was not a one of and win Saturday. Climbing the table more important than a cup win, that said excellent second half performance yesterday.

Ball - You would think so, yes. But in the past we have seen that similar upturns in fortunes didn't have a bearing on future results, that's the point here. It's far from a gimmie.

Re: What happens now
We might play different XIs in League and Cup games, but that result and second half performance will lift EVERYONE'S spirits. And given that we're low on confidence, that has to be a good thing.

Absolutely. Always been the way. Our season consists of a couple of bits of glistening sweetcorn sitting atop a steaming pile of shit.

Re: What happens now
Hart would have stopped the same things Adrian did. Adrian and Hart are about equal in terms of reaction saves. Getting Hart was always a problem because it eventually unsettles the current keeper and you end up losing him anyway. Personally I cant see us buying Hart and paying him the type of wages he wants because he's no better than Adrian really.

As for the cup thing. Ask Wigan. Ask Portsmouth. It kind of means nothing really. I doesnt change your league form because lets face it, Prem teams play two different teams in cup and league runs. So the form doesn't actually follow through.

Also, it's not as if spurs looked devastated at losing this. Its their second string team (and it was pretty much our b-team as well). Also, the mentality isnt to play for a draw in a cup game generally so they are always more open. Teams aren't sitting back, and if they lose they dont mind being out of it.

The league is way different mentality. You put your best team out and you battle hard, And we dont battle hard for 90 minutes. We dont focus for 90 and we have no set plan it seems.

I really hope it inspires us but looking at the past, its easy and pretty likely that cup runs actually detract from league form for struggling teams.

Re: What happens now
This happens every year constantly. We play dogshit 90% of the season but seem to save face suddenly by pulling out a result like last night. Then next week it's business as usual. It's so frustrating.

Re: What happens now
B - I was talking in complete isolation in ref to winning a competion. But yes, in theory of course it should lift morale for Saurday. That said, we have good cup wins before and what you are suggesting did not pan out at all as we returned to norm in the next game. Let's see on Saturday if this has give us confidence.

But the second half showed he IS good enough?

Re: What happens now
Simple, you don't play players because they are new or come from Man City.

There is an element of desperation in fielding players at West ham, you buy a new player and you throw him out there to produce results. All players need to adapt and it's clear our fringe players get pushed to the back and it breeds dissent.

Adrian is clearly our better keeper today, that may change but Hart does not install a winning confidence. If that changes so be it.

Spurs did not field their strongest team and punished us at first, it was the drive of the fringe players and a passion that I think the likes of Noble brings to spur us on.

Lets hope ti continues and Bilic does not give a player an automatic spot int he team. Whether youth, fringe or firs team, each players must earn their position.

Willtell 10:37 Thu Oct 26
Re: What happens now
What happens next is that Bilic needs to pick a side to do what the second string players did. I think several of last night's side deserve to play at Palace.

The 3-5-2 formation also worked quite well once they'd all got into it. It made a change to see pace in our 3 CB's too because Zaha and Townsend will want to run at our defense.

I also feel more comfortable with Adrian in goal but it will be interesting to see which way Bilic choses to go....
